Rohan Kapoor visits a Kashmir military base, witnessing soldiers' bravery and sacrifice. Moved by their courage, he vows to share their untold stories.
In the snowy mountain ranges of Kashmir, there existed an army base proudly standing among tall, white ranges of the Himalayas. A strong and daredevil officer, Major Vikram Sharma, guarded the Indian Army base.
It was a challenge for Major Vikram and his team of soldiers to protect India’s borders around the clock and night. The base, flanked by snow-capped mountains, was a symbol of strength in one of the most dangerous places on earth.
One day, a convoy of civilian visitors came to the base. They were excited and wanted to have a look at the life of soldiers who reside and work in the mountains.
Among these visitors was Rohan Kapoor, a young journalist interested in meeting the courageous men and women who were serving in the Indian Army. Rohan was eager to narrate their stories of valor and sacrifice.
A beautiful adventurous journey in getting to the base-the road long winding with sharp, steep turns leading through mountains with the valleys deep out of the windshield, the wonderful valley down was visible but this mountain ahead showed hidden dangers inside.
However much the journey has been arduous and draining, Rohan could not remain indifferent towards an excitement at that moment.
Finally, they reached the military base. Major Vikram and his soldier welcomed them well. They did not get a lot of visitors but were ever so happy to take them through and share with them their life stories.
Soldiers were strong, battered by years in such a demanding environment. They waited to share the experiences with Rohan and any other visitor to the base.
After the greetings, Major Vikram led the group on a tour of the army base. The soldiers showed the visitors the facilities where they spent their days. They visited the mess hall, where soldiers gathered to eat their meals together.
The food was simple but filling, just what they needed to stay strong for their work. Rohan was surprised to see how close everyone was. Soldiers would often share jokes about their lives daily as they devoured their meal, although each of them was a product of hard times.
Next, they visited the barracks, where the soldiers lived. The rooms were small and simple, with just enough space for a bed and a few belongings.
Life in the barracks was not easy, but it was where the soldiers rested when they weren’t working. The soldiers explained that they always had to be ready for action at a moment’s notice, no matter how tired they were.
It was only on a visit to the frontlines that Rohan knew the life of a soldier really well. High in the mountains stood the frontlines, where the soldiers were supposed to stand guard to protect their country.
Through the bunkers carved into the mountains, he could see the other side into enemy territory. They showed him the network of trenches and bunkers they had managed to construct while keeping safe yet defending the location.
The setup reminded him about the dangers and risks that seemed to lurk around them throughout the day.
Rohan spent his time speaking with the soldiers at the frontline, and he was astonished by their bravery. They spoke of long days and nights spent waiting for enemy movements.
They could not be relaxed even for a second, knowing that they could be attacked at any given time. However, the soldiers did not look fearful. Instead, they seemed to be fully focused on the task of defending the country. The hardships they were facing were not a reason for them to give up.
Rohan sat and listened as they shared stories of their friends lost in battle. He noticed something incredible: the soldiers never lost hope. Their courage and determination shone through as they talked about the challenges they faced.
They were willing to give everything to protect the borders of India, even though their work was tough and dangerous.
When the day was coming to an end, Rohan and the other visitors realized it was time to leave the army base. The experience, however, had left something deep within Rohan. As he walked out of the base one last time, he thought about soldiers.
He felt that these heroes, men and women, were giving so much to their families but, more importantly, to the nation. Rohan was proud that people like them were securing the borders of this country and safeguarding the country from any danger.
The day after his visit, he could not forget the tales of the soldiers. He knew that there was a need to write about them and share their bravery with the world. The army soldiers’ bravery and strength would stay in his heart forever.
He acquired the true meaning of what army service really is. It was through the visit that he learned to respect people who sacrifice their selves to protect the country.
Now that Rohan and the rest of the visitors were driving away from the military base, he glanced back at the mountains. The beauty was stunning, but it paled in comparison to the courage of the soldiers.
Rohan knew that he would never take the freedom and safety he had for granted again. People were able to live peacefully because the soldiers had worked so hard and dedicated themselves to their duties. He was thankful for their service, and he knew that stories of their bravery needed to be told.
